Then and Now

Five years ago at this time I was thinking about this moment. Yep that's right our anniversary is tomorrow. We had a big BBQ the night before at Aunt Meg and Uncle Greg's house. I'm pretty sure that those who attended the dinner remember that over anything else because it was amazing. After dinner we headed to the hotel with our families and friends to get some shut eye before the big day. I was so nervous/excited that I couldn't sleep. I kept texting my brothers asking them if they would help with different things for the big day (love those guys). Besides being blazing hot, we had a perfect wedding day. Thinking about it right now is making me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy. I could go on and on but I'll stop. This year we're feeling a little different than we did then. I went to the doc yesterday because my temp was 103 and I couldn't breath. Luckily I just have bronchitis and I feel a million times better today after some antibiotics. One thing that is the same is the BBQ. My cousin Janie brought some over for us today. It made me smile that I was eating the same thing five years ago. Admittedly, I probably had a lot more today; no need to worry about that tight wedding dress.
Another thing that's different now is that I'm thinking about the toilets that are draining into the bathtub. (Pretty sure you don't want to see a picture of that.) I bought so much Drano today I think we might be tagged as a meth house suspect. In case you're wondering, the Drano didn't work. Luckily a plumber is coming tomorrow.
Finally, the biggest difference from our special day five years ago is that we have two more members of our family. Seriously, I have the cutest kids. I felt so fulfilled and complete on my wedding day...like I finally had all the pieces to my puzzle. I always knew I wanted kids and hoped for at least two boys but I could never have fathomed how I would feel about them. I love these little guys. They make Tom and I better people and make us realize more fully how much we love each other. The coolest thing about Tom is the way he takes care of and plays with our kids.
I guess if I get to have the best husband and kids ever, I'll take the bronchitis and nasty bathtub. Here's to a few more years.
Happy Birthday Family!

Happy Anniversary!!! Crazy that that was five years ago already. You're so old! :) That is really sick about your tub. Not that you needed anything else to go wrong this week! What the heck?!?!? Go get some bluebell and eat your worries away thinking of me who has no bluebell in sight.
