Yesterday Tyler turned 2!! Can you believe it? To say the least, Tom and I are totally obsessed with him. He's a ball of fire and we love it. I love the way Tyler makes jokes, loves to run fast, always wants another hug and kiss, loves swimming...specifically going "under," always wants to see and be around other people and is super friendly...I'll stop so I won't be too annoying of a parent. I'm so grateful to have Tyler in my life. He is such an important part of our family. Almost every night before we fall asleep, Tom and I talk about all the fun and cute things Tyler did that day. Like I said, we're obsessed.

Gram and Grandma made a big hit with the talking cards they sent. Tyler spent the entire day opening and closing them. Can you see the look of sheer joy on his face? Who needs an actual present when you have a talking card?

When Tyler woke up in the morning, Tom and I went into his room singing "
Happy Birthday!" We had balloons, new cars and this new rug waiting for him when he came out into the living room. He was so excited he could barely speak. He ran from the cars to the balloons, back to the cars. He sped through breakfast so he could get back to playing
(fyi Tyler's meals usually last forever, so eating quickly and returning to play is a pretty big deal.) When we left to go walking with some friends, Tyler waved bye to all of his stuff and said, "
Bye Birthday!"
We had blueberry pancakes for lunch
(Ty's fav) and then he went down for a nap. He didn't really fall asleep. After a few minutes of quiet time, I heard him talking and then singing "
Happy Birthday" to himself in bed. It didn't take long for him to get the concept of birthdays and how the world revolves around you on your special day. What can I say? He's a true Robins. :)

We had our family over for a birthday dinner. Can you see Ellie in the background playing so nicely? She's such a good girl; she didn't get upset with Tyler getting all the gifts. I'm glad Tyler can have a cousin/buddy that's so nice to him
all the time.
Tyler got a lot of trucks and cars which was pretty exciting for him. Bekah and Ellie also brought over a toy camera which he used to take pictures of everyone at the party. My mom and dad gave Ty that big yellow dump truck which he loves. They also got him a cute outfit. We laughed our heads off because in typical boy/two year old fashion, Tyler opened the clothes and then threw them down to go focus on the toys.

This is one of my first attempts at decorating a cake
(no laughing). Tyler "helped" me and was pumped to have a "baket ball cake." I'm kind of...alright a lot...uptight about not giving Tyler tons of treats but I had to be nicer on his birthday. He's still talking about his yummy cake today. What do you think, should I lighten up?

Tyler wasted no time shoving his cake right in and then asking for seconds. He looks like Tom but can eat sweets like me...I'm so proud. :)
This morning before Tom got Tyler out of bed he heard Ty saying, "open presents....open presents." I love it! Maybe next year we'll have to institute the traditional Robins Birthday Week with Tyler.
Happy Birthday Toddler T! We love you!!

oh, about the sweets....you've done a good job regulating them for this long!! i started letting my kids have a few more treats around 2 yrs old....but it's always good to moderate :)
I'm so glad Tyler had such a great birthday. He is so adorable!
