Hey Guys,
Tyler is about to turn one (CRAZY) and we need to get him a new carseat. Grandma has generously offered to get Tyler a carseat for his birthday (thanks MOM!). I know a bunch of people have talked to me about upright carseats that they love/hate. I just don't remember the specifics. I guess I'm just wondering if it's worth it to spend the extra $$$ for the "nice" ones or if I should just go cheap. If you have any ideas, let me know. THANKS!
Em

I'm also in the market soon for haley and have been doing my fair amount of research (so this is not from experience, mind you). My friends like the Graco Nautilus 3-1, I can't get it because it's only a forward facing one and she's not old enough for that yet. I wish I could get that one because I think it looks the best. I think we're going to get the Britax Roundabout, it's moderately priced and has fantastic reviews everywhere I read, only problem is that it looks ugly. Bummer. So, there you go. What is that saying, "advice is worth..."
I'd go with a good seat. We paid about $75-100 for Meg's carseat when we upgraded and it's been through Mia and now onto Jackson too! So if you're planning on having other kids, I go with a good seat so that it doesn't just fall apart after Tyler's done with it!
YOU know what I would say. If you're mom's buying, you get the more expensive one. :) I didn't say that stephanie.
We had two upright carseats (Maggie and Ellen:) One was moderately priced, the other was very cheap. They both held up rather nicely and I wouldn't hesitate to use either one for another baby. Some towns have special days where you can go and get your carseat installation checked (to make sure you've installed it properly and it fits your kid), and they sometimes will even exchange your old carseat for a new one if you need an upgrade. Bottom line is, as far as carseats are concerned, they are all safe, because they are heavily regulated by the govt, and the only thing that makes one more expensive than the other are the accessories. Oh, but, I would definitely try to find one with a cupholder. :)
I'd spend a bit of money on a good seat. Any seat will be up to standard, like Fleur said, but you also get what you pay for. If you spend around $150, you can get a really great seat - comfortable, padded seat, reclining feature, cupholder, etc. You can't go wrong with Graco - easy to install, easy to use, and holds up great.
I agree...Graco has been great for us. Our is an upright and I spent about $80ish. It's been good.
We got one at Big Lots for $60 and it'll last her til she's about...5 or so. (size/weight regs) We really like it. Safety 1st brand I think. good luck!
