Tom does a great job making my birthday special. His was on April 3 and a couple of weeks ago my mom came up to watch the boys while we had a little "staycation" in Oklahoma City. It was awesome to have time away. Because of that, I didn't really expect much for my birthday but as always Tom delivered. He was super helpful, thoughtful, wonderful all week. He let me sleep in, made yummy meals, took my bike in to get repaired, hung out with the kids while I went to the movies with some friends...the list goes on and on. Conclusion: I'm a lucky girl.
Last weekend, Tom did a ton of yard work. The kids love "helping" and Tom is usually a pretty good sport about it. I wish I would have gotten a picture of Tyler with his Mater Lawn Mower working along side Tom. So cute!
We also got family pictures which will be shown later and went to the park. Someone was having a birthday party there and they had hired a clown to come. Now Tyler refers to it as the "clown park." Does that mean it's fun or scary? I'm not sure.
On Monday we went to the science museum. Mikey was obsessed with the water table. That little smock kills me. He could barely walk but loved it. I'm obsessed with that cute kid.
Tyler found the little paint your face station and I was talking with a friend so he went to town. His face, hands, arms and legs were all covered. I let him stay that way the entire day and he thought it was the best thing ever...so easy to please.
Wednesday I went out with some girls from church to see "The Lucky One." It was fun to be out and the movie was cheesy which is exactly what I expected so I loved it.
On Thursday there was an early Mother's Day program at Tyler's school. I dropped Mikey off at a friend's house so Ty could have me all to himself. All his little preschool friends sang three songs and then we had cupcakes together. When they started with the pledge of allegiance, Tyler called at me from the front, "MOM, you gotta stand up at this part!" He was super proud of himself for singing all the songs. He LOVES to be the center of attention. I plan on uploading videos later. It was a perfect way to celebrate my birthday.
Tyler was also nice enough to take a picture of me by my birthday cake. This is what we got. I LOVE that kid!
Here he is getting everything ready for the big song.
On Friday, Aunt Meg took us on a picnic to the park. She's the best! Recently Tyler has become a climber. Luckily he's too nervous to go too high.
On Friday I got to go to Jenks to throw Bekah a baby shower (pictures later). Tom was such a great sport about taking the kids...again. Bekah's shower was super fun and I was grateful that my mom made yummy treats and brought a million things. What would I do without her?
I got to stay the night with Bekah. We stayed up talking way too late which was another thing I loved about the weekend. I'm grateful that I'm close with a majority of my cousins. Bekah is one of my very favorite people. I can't wait for that baby to get here!
On Saturday, I ran a 5K in Jenks with one of my favorite people, Andrea. Because it was a small race, I placed in my age category. I could barely contain my laughter because the local weather girl Julie Chin, whom Tom and I loved, was the one giving out the awards. By "loved" I mean we were fascinated that someone could be so bubbly and upbeat about the weather all the time. It's funny and impressive. Anyway, Andrea said if I didn't take a picture with her, I'd regret it for the rest of my life. :)
Here's me and my great buddy. Oh how I miss our morning runs. I'm glad that Andrea and I got to race together. We need to figure out a way to do it more often.
After I got home on Saturday we went to the Oklahoma City Arts Festival with our friends, The Hardings. There was a Thunder game that night so the place was packed. It's great to live in a city that has fun things but it's easy to get around. Even though it was busy, we didn't get stuck in traffic or have to pay a zillion dollars for parking. I love this place.
Today church was crazy but good. Our kids stayed up way too late last night and acted like it today but luckily our church friends understand and love us anyway. Sadly my birthday week has come to an end. Tomorrow morning I'm going to the dentist to get fillings...so long perfect week; hello reality.
