Merry Christmas!

I know it's been a while since I've blogged so here's a quick Christmas Season Update. This year we went to El Paso, Texas to celebrate with the Updike side of the family. It couldn't have been more perfect (okay, maybe if the drive was shorter it would have been more perfect). I love that everyone gets along and is so considerate. In other words, there's no "family drama." It's great!!!
I used my mom's new camera to take most of the pictures so I don't have the best ones but you get the idea. One of my goals was to get my cute niece Lily to like me by the end and she totally did. In fact, right before Garrett and Christina left, Lily came to me and wouldn't go back to Garrett. Nice job Lil!!! Isn't she the cutest little girl you're ever seen? This is me with Papa. He's such a classy guy...and he gives really good grandpa hugs.
Here's Mimi play pick-a-boo with Tyler. She was a big hit with all the great grandkids...no surprise there.
An Updike gathering wouldn't be complete without countless card games.
If best friends means being able to say "no" to the other person, then Ty and Isaac qualify. These guys made me laugh out loud because one would touch something and the other would say "no, no, no" until he got to touch it. I love it!
Here's Isaac and Tyler with Uncle Brian. I call Isaac the kid confidence builder because he's so nice and will let you hold him and read him stories. He hardly ever cries and laughs all the time. Basically, if you're worried about your ability to relate to kids you need to have him around to build your confidence.
This is at my parents house while we were watching the First Presidency Christmas Devotional. It happens every December on the first Sunday and reminds me where my focus should be during the holiday season. Tyler and my dad are total buddies; he'll sit with him all day long.
Okay, maybe he won't sit with my dad all day long...he likes me and my mom too. :)
Tom surprised me the Saturday before Christmas with tickets to The Nutcracker. He even arranged for a babysitter and everything. (She's the one who took the picture.) Tom was a really good sport because he had a good attitude even though I know that going to see a ballet wasn't his first choice of fun things to do. It was beautiful and I loved it! What a wonderful husband!!
For me the best way to celebrate most anything is a good race. This is us at the Jingle Bell 5K.
All in all we had a wonderful Christmas Season. I'm always humbled by how much love and support I feel from family and friends. Although we had a bit of a challenging year, we have to say that we've noticed more than ever the hand of the Lord in our life. We're excited about the adventures that 2010 will bring.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
